Pennsylvania Budget Crisis

We are requesting that you write a short letter asking each of the listed persons to support returning the Museum Assistance line item to the FY 2009-2010 budget.  Gov. Rendell has proposed $0 for this line item that funds the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission's (PHMC) grant program.  That program provides the majority of funds for our society and without those monies the society will be seriously affected.

The Franklin County Historical Society - Kittochtinny returns much more than it's grants amounts to the community in goods and services and serves at least 2,200 visitors every year.  With the reopening of the John Brown House we were looking forward to an expanded tourism program.  All of our functions will be under pressure if monies are not restored.
