Genealogical Services

Historical Societies depend on their members and outside researchers for most of their support.  Consequently, we have instituted a program to answer in-house research inquiries for a fee, payable in advance and non-refundable to help provide for the continuation of our services.  The search is limited to one name at a fee of $20 an hour (five sources searched and up to ten copies reproduced/equal to one hour) or $5 an item.  Additional copies are reproduced at a cost of twenty cents a page for non-members and ten cents a page for members.  Upon receipt of the following form (printable) and payment, we will search the sources you have indicated.  Please see the Genealogical Inquiry Form below for the list of those sources.

As of January 1, 2006 there will be a $5.00 a day charge for non-members to use the research facilities at the Old Jail.  Members of FCHS-K may still do research without charge.

Names of professional researchers can be found on the Genealogical Researchers page.  Those researchers can extend the search to courthouse records for deeds/wills/Orphans Court records from 1784,  marriage records after 1885, and other sources agreed upon.
